Conversational AI WebChat - Find Your Job with AI

Modified on Thu, 9 Jul at 11:05 AM

Product Overview

The Conversational AI WebChat is an AI-powered chat agent by talentsconnect that guides candidates to relevant job openings through a conversational interface. Instead of independently navigating unfamiliar categories and filters on a careers page, candidates receive targeted and personalized guidance through a structured conversation – covering role, working hours, and location.

The product addresses two key challenges in modern recruiting:

First, the lack of consistency across careers pages makes navigation difficult: every company uses its own categories and terminology, which don't necessarily match what candidates are looking for or expect. The Conversational AI WebChat bridges this gap through a guided dialogue.

Second, traditional careers pages create a communication gap: candidate questions often go unanswered or are only addressed after a delay via email or phone. The chat agent answers questions around the clock – fully automated and with no waiting time.

Ideal target audience: Companies with more than 20 open positions and multiple locations. For smaller companies with only a few jobs, the conversational path to the right position may feel disproportionately long.

How It Works & User Journey

Entry Point and Privacy

The WebChat is displayed as a so-called floater permanently in the bottom right corner of the careers page – on both the desktop and mobile versions. Clicking on this floater opens the chat window, which extends across the right side of the screen. The size of the window can be customized – it can be enlarged, reduced, or minimized.

After opening the chat, the purpose is clearly communicated upfront: help with job searching. Consent to the privacy policy is then obtained before the actual consultation begins.

Multilingual Support

The chat automatically adapts to the browser language of the user. Currently over 25 languages are supported – including languages not available on the careers page itself (e.g. Turkish). If desired, the chat can also be restricted to one or two specified languages (e.g. German and English only).

The 4 Search Questions

The agent asks four targeted questions to personalize the job search:

  1. Field – "What field are you looking for a job in?"
  2. Employment type – "What type of employment are you looking for (e.g. full-time, part-time, apprenticeship, mini-job)?"
  3. Location – "In which city are you looking for a job (e.g. 50937 Cologne)?"
  4. Radius – "Within what radius of this city would you like to search for jobs (e.g. 10 km)?"

These four questions are fixed at the system level and mandatory for the job search. However, the example answers provided can be customized individually.

Job Results & Fallback

Once all questions have been answered, the agent searches the available job feed for matching results and presents them in a clear list. Depending on the available data, job attributes such as salary, benefits, or employment type can be shown or hidden.

If no matching positions are found, an intelligent fallback mechanism kicks in: the search radius is automatically expanded and, if necessary, the employment type is broadened as well (e.g. from full-time to part-time).

Apply Directly in the Chat

A key feature of the WebChat is the ability to complete the application directly within the chat without switching platforms. Candidates never leave the conversation – the entire process takes place within a single interface.

The application questions asked in the chat are based on the customer's respective ATS: either questions agreed upon in advance with talentsconnect are used, or the questions stored in the ATS are used directly. After completion, talentsconnect automatically transfers the application to the customer's applicant management system. At the same time, this closed process enables precise measurement of the tool's success.

Features & Customization

  • AI Technology: The dialogue is powered by Claude by Anthropic (as of March 2026). talentsconnect reserves the right to adjust the underlying model as needed to always ensure the best possible dialogue quality.
  • Branding: The chat UI can be customized in color and name to match the customer's corporate design.
  • Job display: Which job attributes are shown in the results (e.g. salary, benefits, employment type) is configurable – provided the corresponding data is available in the job feed.
  • Question examples: The example answers for the four search questions can be customized individually.
  • Language: The chat is multilingual by default (25+ languages). The language selection can be restricted upon request.

Benefits

For Candidates

  • 24/7 availability: Questions are answered at any time and without waiting.
  • Better basis for decision-making: Comprehensive information enables more targeted application decisions.
  • Easier navigation: The guided dialogue replaces the time-consuming manual search on the careers page.
  • Seamless application process: From the first conversation to the completed application – all within one interface.

For Companies & HR

  • Reduced day-to-day workload: Incoming inquiries via email and phone are noticeably reduced.
  • Higher applicant quality: Well-informed candidates apply more purposefully and with a better fit.
  • Modern employer branding: The company positions itself as an innovative employer with a contemporary application process.
  • Measurable results: Through the closed application process in the chat, the number of applications and the apply-to-hire conversion can be directly tracked and optimized.

Implementation & Onboarding

The technical integration of the WebChat is done via a script snippet. Customers who already use a talentsconnect Jobshop benefit from the fact that the implementation is handled entirely by talentsconnect.

Requirements:

  • Existing ATS integration with talentsconnect
  • Provision of a current job feed (an automatically updated, structured file – usually in XML or JSON format – that delivers all open positions and their attributes in real time from the ATS)

Timeline:

  • First test run: within one week of all requirements being met
  • Go-live: typically within 14 days

Data Privacy & Data Storage

All data is processed exclusively on servers in Europe and is therefore GDPR-compliant. The infrastructure is hosted via AWS on a modern, highly available environment.

Application data is stored by default for a maximum of 6 months after the application is received. The retention period can be individually configured and agreed upon together with talentsconnect.

Current Limitations

  • Knowledge base: The agent can currently only answer questions about the jobs contained in the provided job feed. Processing of additional information sources (e.g. provided PDFs or linked websites) is under development and is expected to be available in Q2 2026.
  • Search structure: The four search questions are currently fixed and mandatory for the job search.
